Cafe "El Origen"

El Origen is my favorite coffee place in my hometown. They often come up with a new house specialty in desserts. Furthermore, I use this location for face-to-face coaching sessions and dates. Would you like to try a coffee-coaching session with me? Let me know in the comments section.

Delifruit - Icecream!!!

This summer 2011 motivated by my blog I've met many new places, specially to taste good coffee and icecream. This time the turn was of Delifruit, a neighbourhood icecream shop located in a corner, kind of hidden, in the limit beetween Lince and San Isidro. My best friend took me to the icecream shop to spoil me a little (this term sounds porn for me but I don't know any other way to say "engreir" in english) since I looked badly injured after my bike accident. I didn't like to find out the hours of opening published in their webpage are totally different than the real ones. For example, they say in their webpage they attend from monday to saturday until 8:00 p.m. and sundays until 6:00pm. At the door we confirmed they attend from monday to sunday until 7:00 pm. The icecream was OK, not good enough for me, but still tasty. The presentation was so poor, they served us in a coffee cup to take away (3 scoops) and in the coffee cup top (2 scoops), not atractive at all. The cafeteria is really small, it doesn't invite you to stay there. But there's something positive to highlight about Delifruit, this place has winned its public, many people young and older who look from the neighbor that ask for icecream to take away. In my opinion there's still a long way for Delifruit to become a recognized icecream shop or cafe, but GO!. The advertisment and the webpage is really well done without considering the incorrect info about opening hours.

Here the photos (post accident)

San Antonio - Coffee, sandwichs, icreams and more

Someday  I read in trip advisor that San Antonio was considering the best cafeteria in Lima. I still have my doubts but don't missundestand me, the flavor is unique and the service is so good. Is just that I know so many Cafés in Lima that is so difficult for me to decide for one of them. However, San Antonio is my mother's favorite. Their icecream are too sweet but stil delicious, the sandwiches instead are kind of light, not so greassy as in another cafeterias.  San Antonio  is more like a family place, my mother allways remindes me when we lived in Magdalena and we went to the backery San Antonio, yeap it is also a backery shop but not an urban backery shop, but an exclusive one. They also sell a great variety of chocolates made by themselves. When I go there I have like a family feeling but I still don't find  anything that make that place spectacular for me. San Antonio is a chain of backery shop and cafés, all are very similar and the public look elitist. I went to San Antonio of Magdalena and another in San Isidro, they both are quiet not like other cafeterias you enter and hear everybody's talk, it absolutely happens at any San Antonio. They seem to care their atmopshere so much. I was taking photos and an employee told me it was prohibited after I took a few. I understand they said that becaude of their customers.

Tanta - A Restaurant by Gaston Acurio

Tanta is one of the famous restaurants from Gaston Acurio. I mentioned him in my post of La Calesa. Well, he is a peruvian chef who became popular in Peru because of his many succesful restaurants here and abroad. Eating in a restaurant by Gaston Acurio is a synonymus of quality and finest food. He has many chains of restaurants in Peru and I read in the newspaper he's founding a Chinesse Food Restaurant at the peruvian style. This man is awsome, he always innovates food. I think that is why he's been recognized around the world. The last saturday I was supposed to meet my "best friend" Guillermo but as he ussually does he didn't care about it and got slept at the lunch time, not even a call. Fortunately, along the time you learn to know people, so I just waited for him until 12:30 pm then I made my plan for the day. First, I wanted to look for appartments that feed into my budget- a difficult task believe me!. Then, I took a bus to San Isidro, exactely to an area close to my job, and walking over there I found Tanta and I decided to have lunch there. It wasn't my first time eating there, some time ago I tasted a delicious and unforgetable dish in the same location so I decided to come in. This time I was curious about seafood at the Gaston Acurio's style so I ordered:

Tiradito two-colors
Causa filled with crayfish pulp
Chocolate dessert
Frozen Chicha

It was a complete meal and a very expensive one (60 soles) . Prices here are so relatives. The next day I went to a good seafood called El Señor Limón and spent the same money but for 2 persons! However, nobody in Peru is so popular as Gaston Acurio. Anyway, he worths to its price. I was kind of embarrased because I wanted to take photos but I was alone, however I found courage because my purpose is to give valuable information in my blog and that includes pictures taken by me some times. So I ask the waiter that please take a panoramic photo for me, but he told me he was going to ask to the "man in charge", another man came to my seat and asked what I wanted, I repeated the same and he told he was going to asked to his supervisor. It was kind of disturbing because I just wanted a photo of an empty area! I didn't want to bother anybody. Then the supervisor came to my seat, at his favor I can say he was hot, hehe. He asked my why I wanted to take photos and the url of my website. And he finally allowed me to take photos "but only a couple please".  It was kind of embarrasing for me because was the first time I asked for permission. Talking about my food, the Tiradito was made of perico, which is not really a fine fish but it tasted as the finest fish in that preparation, however it was too few for me then I asked the Causa, it was better in quantity and one of the best Causas I've ever tried. Then I wanted a dessert, I'm on diet but I coudn't resist to the appealing desserts, so I ordered one that lunched me to heaven. In my opinion, eating in Tanta makes me feel as eating fine food made with common ingredients. By the way, I wouldn't recommend the Tiradito but the Causa and the dish I ate before Arroz a la norteña were excelent.

Orgäanika Coffee & D'lites - A healthy experience

Nowadays it's like a "fashion thing" to be light. Anywhere I see people doing sports, eating healthier but it's still hard to find an ideal point. Little by little restaurants and cafes are adapting themselves to attend this growing public. For example, KFC before was a synonymous of greasy food, now they also sell salads!! Peruvian restaurants of grilled chicken now sell big bowls of salad too. And what about the desserts?? -  New icecream shops like Frogurt or this Orgäanika are becoming popular. I love this new places and hope I could find one near my neighborhood soon. I knew about Orgäanika through facebook, inmediately I wanted to go but their locations were so far from my town. Until today that I had to visit a client in La Molina, close to the Fontana Shoping Center and so I could finally meet Ogäanika. I ordered an icecream which they promote like low-calorie food (only 50 calories for each 100 grs) but the icecream machine was broken . Kind of dissapointed I ordered the organic coffee and it was delicious, nothing to regret. I felt a lighter flavor than the "normal" grans in the coffee, but it was good. What I love of this place is the fact they have a very nice space for smokers. Today is very hard to find a public place where to smoke a cigarette because it's prohibited in many restaurants and cafes. That experience was something new for me, smoking an drinking a good capuccino at the same time. Hope you enjoy Orgäanika some time.

I took this pictures frome their fanpage in Facebook:

Frogurt - Frozen Yogurt and New Concept

Hi,
Today I'm going to talk about a new place I've recently met. It's called Frogurt and it's like a light icecream shop. They say the icecream is in fact frozen yogurt (but there's also chocolate), it has 0 fats and only 84 calories for each 100 grs which is a normal ration. I ate 300 grs although and I didn't feel it heavy at all. In Lima this is a new concept on icecream shops because you can serve yourself as much as you want and put the toppings or fruits you want and then you pay the weight, awsome!!. I love this place and I found out some photos in facebook, hope you like it too.

Deli France - Quiet Place

This week I've worked until the 30th and  that day I had to visit a client in Miraflores, close to Deli France a French Cafe I didn't know so in the way back to my job I entered this place to order a Capuccino which was kind of heavy for me (I think because of the milk they use). Deli France has a sober style very french I supposse, it's big , nice looking, very clean and the sofas are comfortable. I took a look at their wine list and it was amazing, they sell a great variety of wines and they also sell wine marriage (wine + food in a perfect combination) that sounds cool for me. What I didn't like is that I was very hurry and I wanted to exit with my coffee but they do not sell to take away...whatever. I'll return to try some marriage.

Here some photos specially taken for you:

Gloria Jean's Coffees

I don't usually work on saturdays but today I had to go to my office which is conveniently situated at San Isidro so after work I just have to go some block to get to Gloria Jean's Coffees which became quiclkly my favorite point. In fact I'm right here righ now tasting their new recipe for Christmas. The coffee is excelent not like the bulshit of Starbucks, the music is cool, the atmosphere is warm and very comfortable, the conexion is fast, this is heaven? - Not, is Gloria Jean's, an Australian franchise in Peru who came to compete with the monster (also for ugly) Starbucks. I'd take the opportunity to make photos with the cam of my laptop.

This photo I title "crazy to exit the office" (was taken before going to Gloria Jean's)

La Máquina -Culture and Pleasure

The slogan of La Máquina is Culture and Pleasure and it is in some way you can feel the art when you enter, the enviroment is awsome , very excentric and unusual, for example the last time I went they had T-shirts hunged up under the roof and we could smell marijane on the air. The restroom is only one for men/women. They also have a room called "La habitación del rescate (the rescue room)" where periodically an artist show his work, some day it is a photo gallery, another is a room installation and so on. The food and the drinks are also unusual, you can drink hot wine or piscolatte or coffee with pisco and these beverages are difficult to find at any café as well as their appetizers. It's easy to get because the café is ubicated in the heart of Miraflores at the back of the Banco de Crédito which is very known. The mayority of its public is young people and turists any age. La Máquina is one of my favorite cafés, hope you like it too.

La Folie Café

I knew about La Folie in facebook. The desserts looked pretty much delicious, the architecture looked trendy so I proposed myself to go there someday. The day came and I my eyes couln't believe what the saw, it was amazing!!! There are around 3 enviroments: one with a fake waterfull, one more elegant with comfortable sofas and another one very colorfull . The desserts look still better. The service is A1, I don't have to screem to be heard because the waiters are kind in caring consciously about the clients and there is also an electronic device in every single table that allows to order, cancel or call the waiter. Another thing I love about La Folie is that they organize events to cheer customers, for example "magic nights" (a magician walks by every table offering a magic trick), "board games", etc. They also change the decoration every now and then or according to famous events like Halloween or the World Cup.

In conclusion, by me it's hardly recommended. Wanna see photos?
