Señor Limón - Sir Lemon

As seafood combines perfect with these sunny days the last sunday I went to eat to the Señor Limón, a very known restaurant that has some locations in Lima, one near my home, exactly in San Miguel. Then I invited my mother to remember the exquisite flavor of the Señor Limón’s dishes. We had tried many dishes there and we don’t complain about any.  Even though we have many seafood restaurants in Lima it seems they are still few because at some seafood restaurants I like I always find people waiting to enter and of course I have to join the line. At least at the Señor Limón I don’t have to wait too much, just 5 or 10 minutes to find a seat. Thus, I still remember when I went to eat at a very good seafood restaurant and I found it all full and the place was really big, but I will talk about it later.  I love Señor Limon because I think they serve a fear quantity for the price, and what about the quality?- it’s  wonderful because they only work with fine fish and don't lie to you. In my opinion, the reason of his public is the right relation between price-quantity-quality.  It’s always a pleasure to eat at the Señor Limón.  However, I must clear up I’ve never gone to the other locations, only to San Miguel. I hope you can eat there and if you know more about the others please tell us.

This time I ordered at Señor Limón:
Matrimonio de Causa con Ceviche (Marriage of Cause filled with crayfish and Ceviche)
Pez Espada a la Parrilla con champignones (Grilled Swordfish with mushrooms)

Here the photos I took wih my camera:

Tanta - A Restaurant by Gaston Acurio

Tanta is one of the famous restaurants from Gaston Acurio. I mentioned him in my post of La Calesa. Well, he is a peruvian chef who became popular in Peru because of his many succesful restaurants here and abroad. Eating in a restaurant by Gaston Acurio is a synonymus of quality and finest food. He has many chains of restaurants in Peru and I read in the newspaper he's founding a Chinesse Food Restaurant at the peruvian style. This man is awsome, he always innovates food. I think that is why he's been recognized around the world. The last saturday I was supposed to meet my "best friend" Guillermo but as he ussually does he didn't care about it and got slept at the lunch time, not even a call. Fortunately, along the time you learn to know people, so I just waited for him until 12:30 pm then I made my plan for the day. First, I wanted to look for appartments that feed into my budget- a difficult task believe me!. Then, I took a bus to San Isidro, exactely to an area close to my job, and walking over there I found Tanta and I decided to have lunch there. It wasn't my first time eating there, some time ago I tasted a delicious and unforgetable dish in the same location so I decided to come in. This time I was curious about seafood at the Gaston Acurio's style so I ordered:

Tiradito two-colors
Causa filled with crayfish pulp
Chocolate dessert
Frozen Chicha

It was a complete meal and a very expensive one (60 soles) . Prices here are so relatives. The next day I went to a good seafood called El Señor Limón and spent the same money but for 2 persons! However, nobody in Peru is so popular as Gaston Acurio. Anyway, he worths to its price. I was kind of embarrased because I wanted to take photos but I was alone, however I found courage because my purpose is to give valuable information in my blog and that includes pictures taken by me some times. So I ask the waiter that please take a panoramic photo for me, but he told me he was going to ask to the "man in charge", another man came to my seat and asked what I wanted, I repeated the same and he told he was going to asked to his supervisor. It was kind of disturbing because I just wanted a photo of an empty area! I didn't want to bother anybody. Then the supervisor came to my seat, at his favor I can say he was hot, hehe. He asked my why I wanted to take photos and the url of my website. And he finally allowed me to take photos "but only a couple please".  It was kind of embarrasing for me because was the first time I asked for permission. Talking about my food, the Tiradito was made of perico, which is not really a fine fish but it tasted as the finest fish in that preparation, however it was too few for me then I asked the Causa, it was better in quantity and one of the best Causas I've ever tried. Then I wanted a dessert, I'm on diet but I coudn't resist to the appealing desserts, so I ordered one that lunched me to heaven. In my opinion, eating in Tanta makes me feel as eating fine food made with common ingredients. By the way, I wouldn't recommend the Tiradito but the Causa and the dish I ate before Arroz a la norteña were excelent.

Here the photos I took for you:

Mis Costillitas - Ribs and Grilled "snacks"

Well, at first I have clear up that I didn't find an exact translation por "piqueo" because I understand snack like something not too heavy but these "grilled snaks" are really greassy and heavy, not kidding. I had an awful stomachache despite to a lunch in honor of Alicia, a good friend and co-worker. Please don't missunderstand me, the food is delicious and the quality is all right, but it's not light at all. The salad is very simple and too small while the french fries potatos and meet are a considerably amount. I do not like the salad not event the french fries potatos they serve but the ribs and the grilles "snacks" rock my world =) . I've been in the location of San Miguel and another in Miraflores. The taste is not wide different between both locations but I rather Mis Costillitas from Miraflores even though it's smaller. Go! eat! enjoy! punish your stomach once in a while.

Pardos Chicken - feel the peruvian taste

Last monday I went to the movies with my family and as a family tradition we went to dinner before. It was my turn to choose the restaurant and I picked Pardos Chicken since it's been a long time we ate there. I don't if it was because we missed the place but that monday I felt I was eating the best grilled chicken ever in my life. My mother also said it was better than the last time. So, it was a grateful surprise for us and it reminded me I should recommend this restaurant. Thus, they are some of the few good restaurants I know that offer a "light" option for whose don't like to eat too much fat. For example, they allow you to change salad instead of the french fries potatos as a result you eat grilled chicken with salad

For those who don't know Pardos Chicken is a peruvian chain of restaurants that became international some time ago, because of the quality of their food they had a great success in Chile. By the was, a lot of peruvian restaurants are conquering the world and I have them here cheaper and closer then I feel so lucky of been peruvian. Beside, I love to eat, yep I confess but shhh nobody must know.

I hope you can feel the flavor while looking at the pictures:

Punta Arenas - Best Tiradito

The last sunday I went to eat at one of my favorite restaurants Punta Arenas. They prepare my favorite dish "Tiradito de Pescado" very well. As a matter of fact, they do the BEST Tiradito Bicolor I've ever tried. It's the #1 in my ranking of tiraditos!!!. The day I went I also saw a famous peruvian comedian eating there with his family. Lately, I run into many famous people in the places I go. Does it mean I'm fashion? haha...Ok. I didn't like they didn't serve me the amount of  Tiradito I was used to eat there... Or the didn't have fish or I was very hungry? Whatever I just want to show you the photos. I wasen't used to take photos of my outings, but since I have this blog I do it and you know what? It feels good. Thanks!

Here, the photos I took:

El Bolivariano - Eat, Drink and Dance in a single one place

El Bolivariano is an oldfashioned restaurant that still conserves a traditional arquitecture since the Simon Bolivar's times. They said in their page they try to preserve the flavor of the antique peruvian cuisine and I agree very much. El Bolivariano is like a time machine not only for their very peruvian food, but for the decoration inside. You will find many rooms where to sit. The first one is the dining room "Manuelita"  in honor of Manuelita Saenz, Simon Bolivar's lover. The second one is the hall "Los Libertadores" (the liberators) where the party at night takes place, its capacity is for 250 people. The third room is La Pérgola, small and quite with a view to an antique Pisco machine and some botijas (botija is a container where the pisco get macerated). The fourth is the Boli-Bar,decorated as in the 19th century. And the last but not least, the hall Independencia a big room specially for events. They offer a buffet in lunch time until 4:30 pm with a huge variety of delicious peruvian dishes. The quality of the buffet is very good and the price is relatively cheap compared with other buffets of the same quality. You can try the buffet at any room you are so even a lot of people go you will neve find it crowded. At night they have a room to drink and dance, the music goes since peruvian music to 90's. The specialty to drink at these nights is their Res: a 750 mlt botlle of Pisco, a Ginger Ale and some ingredients to prepare your Chilcano (peruvian coctel) by your self. This room at night is full and is the perfect place to get very drunked with our pisco. I just remember a party there, the next day a horrible headache and vomiting the all day. That's because the famous pisco Queirolo is not one of the finest.

Puro Peru

In my opinion, Puro Peru is the best peruvian buffet you can taste. I've gone to many buffets and this wins the gold medal. The place is simple and comfortable, the desserts are wonderful, the food is impeccably presented and the flavor IS peruvian cuisine. The attention is fast (not like other buffets you have to wait to order something to drink) and I forgot the place is enormous so hardly you will find it full. I saw in their webpage they offer a traditional show but when I went (on weekends) they didn't. They only attend for lunch until 4:30 pm. Don't be late! I hpe you enjoy this place as much as me, it is one of my favorite's. However, staying at Lima I don't recommend you to go again and again and again to the same place because there's a huge offer of A1 restaurants you can visit, and new ones born everyday in Peru.

Blue Moon - Restaurant & Bar

This is he BEST, FABOLOUS AND ROMANTIC place I've ever been. If you read this post looking for recommendations you're going to thank me your entire life. The place is just amazing, so italian, so warming, so passionate, so hidden and the food is ....It's like a chapter of the last dinner. If you go with your fiance I swear your evening finishes in sex (at least in my case if I had a boyfriend). Blue Moon offers a fantastic buffet (I'm no joking when I say It looks like the last dinner) that you'd like to have a boundless stomach. And if you want to take a drink or date with somebody this is the point. There's a huge collection of wine, whisky, cognac and other elegant liquors. The backgound music is Chamber o Classical and the waitresses boss is a middle-age man who called me "signorina". I'm going to show you photo but I'm sure they're nothing compared with being in the spot. I forgot a comment I think this restobar (restaurant & bar) is not very known, I just knew about it because I was walking over there. It's memorable!.

Amazing photos:

Look at their website they have a virtual tour:

Junius

The last friday I went to the Doubletree El Pardo hotel in Miraflores for a company event and it reminded me a point I haven't talked yet and this is Junius a restaurant inside the hotel which is very known for their buffet and peruvian folk dance shows. Yeap you can watch traditional dances of the whole Peru while you're eating, sounds nice right? It's even nice for me being native. The buffet is ok, I mean I know better buffets (larger and more delicious) but including the show (only for dinner time) and the centrally situated of the spot Junius is all right. I've seen many foreign people there.

El Escondite del Gordo -Seafood

Today I tried to make it an special day so after work I wen to eat a "tiradito" a very tasty peruvian meal based on raw fish and after that I went to Gloria Jean's Coffees (i talk about this in the previous post). The point now is El Escondite del Gordo (the hideout of the fat man), a place more or less famous becaouse of their food. Then I had to see if what they said is true, specially to comment on this blog. I came in for the first time to their establishment in San Isidro and I didn't think it was a good restaurant according how it looked like. The place is careless, the walls seem dirty, there's not good  lighting, the attention is not good and the place was almost empty (I supossed because very few people near there work on saturdays) however I still remember the good comments about the restaurant and they're not wrong!!.I order my favorite dishes:
- Causa filled with crayfish pulp
- Tiradito two-colored (rocoto and aji amarillo cream)

The waiter delivered my orders very fast and I by the time they last I was expecting something regular but they surprised me. The tiradito was really good, the 3rd best tiradito I've tried and the causa very well done. Nevertheless, I didn't enjoy eating there because of the atmosphere I've told you above beside the dish presentation that was sad.

I couldn't take photos, so I share some form their website:

I clear up some points:
El Escondite del Gordo has 3 establishments, I went to the Juan de Arona's.
Av. Juan de Arona 672, San Isidro, Lima, Peru.
They have another one in Armando Blondet, San Isidro too who looks better in photos.
They also sell franchises, maybe I went to a disorganized franchise.
